Welcome to the Faith and Inches Blog authored by Jim Goodman of AliveandFit.com. Important to distinguish as there are an awful lot of Jim Goodman’s in the blogosphere.

Faith and Inches is a play on the football term Fourth and Inches. This is when you have only 1 play left to run to get a new set of downs or turn the ball over to the other team. It is a place where coaches often 2nd guess themselves and armchair quaterbacks demand perfection and sports talk either gets to praise or criticize. Many games are won or lost on the Fourth and Inches play call.
The purpose of this blog amounts to nothing more than a place for me to ramble, rant and rave. My hope is to always do it in a Christ-like manner.
My church experience is I was raised Roman Catholic, had an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist experience and eventually met Jesus Christ in a club in Norfolk, VA in 1986 (more on that at http://myspace.com/upstreamlive). I then hopped a couple of Assembly of God churches looking for someone that would teach the Bible. A friend of mine called me up in 1989 and told me about a place called Calvary Chapel. I was with those folks for 7 years before moving on to an Evangelical Free church for about a year before joining a pastor who came from Harvest Christian Fellowship (pastor Greg Laurie) in Riverside, CA to plant a church in Lincoln, NE in 1999 and been there ever since as everything from worship leader to non-staff assistant pastor teaching mid-week, Sunday nights and occasional Sunday mornings.
My favorite Bible teaching influences are Chuck Smith, Jon Courson, A.W. Tozer. Even so I am a free thinker on matters of theology and doctrine. I believe in Scripture being literal, spiritual, practical and experiential.
If that isn’t enough

Wussup Jimbo!!!!
What ya been up to? Well I am down to about 185 lbs with a little over 8 weeks to go until the St Louis show.how is life?
Hi Mike!
Down to 185 very cool! 8 weeks out you’ll make it for sure – go get em! How is life? Not sure how to answer that except to say I have recieved enough grace for each day. I am heading to San Francisco and won’t make it back until after the holiday then we’ll get together and see how your new and improved ripped self looks. Thanks for dropping in on my blog!
I found your blog by googling faith and 4th and inches. Something I came up with in my own journey and decided to see if anybody else was thinking like me by googling. What a nice surprise. Look forward to reading your blog.
Glad you found the blog – faith and inches came out of a crisis I was in. It paralleled a fourth and inches situation with the game on the line, in this case I was spiritually in a fourth and inches situation.
Cool you had similar thoughts.
Dang! I hate that before and after picture.
Is there a pill I can take?
LOL – I kinda like that pic. I wasn’t even at my heaviest in that one.
No pill sorry Jim – Body for LIFE was the book that laid the foundation for that success though.
