I thought this news story posted on cnn.com was worth sharing:
Snake eats family dog as kids watch
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — A 16-foot python stalked a family dog for days before swallowing the pet whole in front of horrified children in the Australian tropics, animal experts said Wednesday.
The boy and girl, aged 5 and 7, watched as the scrub python devoured their silky terrier-Chihuahua crossbreed Monday at their home near Kuranda in Queensland state.
It is a very apt illustration when you consider how many adults, especially parents who compromise holy living without a single thought or care for children who are spiritually impressionable. The scars of the event will no doubt be born in these young lives for a very long time.
Sin is not a joke, not something to wink at and definitely not something to think so little of – it is definitely at the door waiting to devour. We nor our children should be such easy prey, God help us!

How horrible! Those poor kids! I would have kept the dog out of reach. And what about the kids!? What if had went after the 5 yr old?!
It is so true people watch heir kids do questionable things every day. But out of fear of “making a big deal about it” they don’t do anything. Or think that “that wouldn’t happen to MY kid”. God has given the children in our lives for a reason to cover and protect them.
A song from Superchic(k) really changed the way I live my life. I think it’s called Hero. One verse talks about an older brother living how he wants cause he’s an adult, not realizing his younger brother looks up to him and wants to be just like him. It made me think… my niece was in jr high then and I had been living with my boyfriend, before we broke up and was wanting to go back out “clubbing” and I thought what kind of example have I been? and what kind of example do I want to be? Her mom wasn’t doing such a great job either, but I thought I really want to do the right thing here and I’m glad for them, my niece and nephew, they helped with the kick in the pants I needed.
We’re the adults here, we are to be an example that God gives us the strength to do the hard stuff. And that our lives are more peaceful, and better for it!
My son turned 6 months old this week.
This has been foremost on my mind. The illustration really drives it home.
