Deacon Terry - I am glad God has used this article to bless you.

It is interesting in how when we freely receive then freely give how the Lord blesses and adds life even the smallest and simplest of things for His Kingdom.

God is Great and Worthy is He to be Praised! Blessed be the name of the LORD!

Keep me posted on how it goes.

Ed - thanks for sharing. I feel for you and am reminded of this verse:

Pr 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

It is a tough place you find yourself in when you desire so much to serve in this way. It seemed like God had opened the door, but man slammed it shut. When God opens a door no man can shut it, if it is really shut then God didn't open it - if it only appears shut then God has yet a greater work He was to do for His glory. Sounds like a pat answer, but really it is He who promotes and He does so in His good time. Look at David who was anointed as king yet spent the following years as a servant, criminal and lunatic until the time come when God exalted him to the throne of Israel.

Here is comfort, if it truly is the Lord who birthed this in your heart then it will come to pass, but you have to offer it back to Him. Just as He created the bulls, doves, grain and such as provision for offerings so too He created this gift and heart within you as provision as an offering as well. So how are you to offer it?

It is easy to say that you need to find a way to lead the congregation, but is that really what the Lord is desiring for you, today? Perhaps your heart is such towards the Lord that He wants to take you into a much more intimate place in personal worship before getting on the stage to write new worship songs that He can bless His people with. I have done many songs written by many people like you who are nothing more than 'fill-in' worship leaders or just worship team members never being up front.

Just as the people exalted David victories over Saul's it sounds like the worship team is supportive of you - that in my mind is validation that God is working and it sounds like you are taking the right steps to let Him work.

Again: Pr 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

It doesn't say... "IF the desire comes" it says "WHEN the desire comes"

Ps 27:14 Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!

Blessings,
Jim

Jim,
Everything I read and the responses apply to my life! I was called to music ministry at 40 yrs old and have been waiting and practicing for 9 yrs. Recently I volunteered to help the youth band at church and it started to grow in size. But some did not like my leading and started to squabble over it. The original leader actually quit but was talked back into the position. This really hurt because I saw God opening a door and then having it shut was awful. I went outside and just talked and shouted and cried out to the Lord.

The youth were so upset that they came to me and told me that if I didnt stay they would all quit the band. My response was that they needed to listen to God and not react to what man does (me).

Right now I am just waiting and hurting and depressed.

God bless,
Ed

Pastor Rick that is an awesome testimony! Thanks for following up with me and letting me know how it turned out.

It just more reinforces the point that God considers the heart above all things.

Blessings!
