I have often time thought to myself in worship, O that I could write songs like David or preach like Paul. The thought has occured to me, “would you live the life of David to be able to write those songs or the life of Paul that you could preach like him?” It comes down to I often want the blessings of such heart-expression of faith without the pain and trial that it takes to cultivate that heart-expression. As I find myself in such a place I am finding prayer easy and heart-expression natural. Today we so easily excuse lack of prayer as warfare. No one has need of a life preserver lest one is drowning so it is content to hang on the bulkhead of the ship until one falls overboard then the preserver is out of reach. To those who know the trial of the sea, they wear the life jacket as a matter of garment when on deck at all times so it should be with prayer.
For many today are content with faith being lived out by others to gleen from their trials and tribulations that drew them close to God and made them useful to God’s purposes but this is not how God would work in the hearts of His people. The scripture and spiritual writings don’t exist so we can look at what God has done in the past alone, but these examples exists to declare what God can do in the hearts of those who are His yesterday, today and forever for He changes not. The flesh can not be dead while it yet lives and it is in death alone can Life be found. It is in this Life that the gospel of Christ becomes engraven upon our hearts. To live as a conflicted soul like Saul is only proof of an unyielded life and one that will find its end in accordance to its life.
Father in Heaven you alone are worthy of our praise. I pray and ask to not be as one of Your holy saints, but to be a holy saint as You have commanded me to be holy for Thou art holy. Let Your testament be emblazened upon my heart that all who read would see beyond me and see You for who You really are: Perfect Love and Perfect Peace. Reign in me O Lord casting down all doubt and fears of death of self raising up a new Life of Spirit and Power.
